Imphal, June 15:
Former Chief Minister and president of the MSCP (N), W Nipamacha today stated that the extension of ceasefire between the NSCN (IM) and GoI to the soil of Manipur is a result of Presidents Rule in the State and added that the leadership of the BJP and the Samata Party should be held responsible for the present state of affairs.
Addressing newsmen at his official quarters at Babupara today, the former Chief Minister said that the strict directives issued to the BJP and Samata Party, with 39 members between them, not to stake claim to form the Government and not to support any other Government formation may have been a ploy to impose PR in the State.
Expressing strong suspicion that the Centre may have had a hidden agenda behind the decision to impose PR, Nipamacha said the deteriorating law and order and the acute financial conditions may not have been the only factors that prompted Delhi to impose Central Rule.
Nipamacha further said the Union MoS Th Chaoba should not feign ignorance about the decision to extend the ceasefire to the state.
If he (Chaoba) genuinely feels about protecting the territory of the State then he should forthwith resign from the Council of Ministers, added Nipamacha.
Taking a dig at Union Home Minister LK Advani, Nipamacha said the union home minister has not been able to stop the killings of non-Manipuri and resumption of screening Hindi films in the State.
He recalled that when he was the Chief Minister the Home Minister had expressed displeasure over the same point.
