Imphal, January 13 2016:
Citing ano-
malies in the recruitment pro-
cess for various posts in Re-
gional Institute of Medical
Sciences (RIMS), the All Ma-
nipur Students Union Manipur
(AMSU) has demanded a
clarification from the Medical
Superintendent of RIMS on the
authenticity of number of
candidates who were selected
for the posts.
Addressing media persons
today at the office of AMSU,
here, general secretary of the
student body Manjit Sarang-
them said that RIMS had
issued a notification for re-
cruitment of one Junior
Technical (Refrigerator), one
plumber, one dark room as-
sistant, two assistant techni-
cians (Electrician), one blood
bank organizer and one au-
diovisual technician on June
4, 2015.
For the mentioned posts,
the required qualification in-
cludes certificates in the spe-
cific trade from a recognized
institute, he added.
AMSU
had earlier urged the RIMS
authority to conduct the re-
cruitment in a transparent
manner.
And on November 5
and 6, interviews were con-
ducted.
But, an independent in-
quiry committee set up by
AMSU found that certain
candidates having bogus cer-
tificates were selected for the
said posts, he added.
Earlier on December 3 last
year, AMSU had asked the
RIMS authority to clarify
about the recruitment process
and demanded production of
the certificates used by the
candidates, but till today RIMS has failed to come out with any clarification.
He further said that RIMS has also failed to give a proper
reply to the information asked through RTI for the said recruitment.
"Such actions from the Chairman of the Selection
Committee who is also the Medical Superintendent of RIMS
indicates that there is some form of nepotism and favouritism
in the recruitment process and it is not acceptable," added
Manjit.
Further he warned that AMSU would launch agitation if
the RIMS authority and the Medical Superintendent fail to
clarify within January 25.The student body also demanded the
resignation of Prof M Amuba on moral ground.
The reports unearthed by AMSU will be sent to the Medical
Council of India (MCI) and the Ministry of Health and
Family Welfare, Government of India and draw their attention
if RIMS fails to come out with a clarification, he added.
