Imphal, January 13 2016:
The Kuki
Students' Organisation (KSO),
Ghqs and All Naga Students'
Association, Manipur
(ANSAM) have decided to go
ahead with the proposed
democratic agitation from
January 22 if the State Govt
fails to settle the issue con-
cerning 2006 batch contract
teachers of the hill districts
within Jan 21.
Speaking to media persons
at TRI today after a joint
meeting, president of
ANSAM, Seth Shatsang said
that 772 school teachers were
appointed on contract basis
for schools in the hill districts
in 2006.
Unfortunately, the Gov-
ernment has not taken any
step for regularization of the
contract teachers till today
even though there is an agree-
ment with the State Govt for
filling up vacant posts, Seth
Shatsang said.
He further said that physi-
cal verification of the contract
teachers conducted by the
Directorate of Education (S)
for service extension or regu-
larization was completed in
Nov 2011.
Due to the alleged lacka-
daisical attitude of the State
Govt to the issue, many Govt
schools in the hill districts
remain paralysed as there is
acute shortage of teachers, he
said.
Seth Shatsang said that
their demand is regularisation
of 772 teachers.
ANSAM and KSO had
submitted an ultimatum to the
CM on Dec 14 urging to meet
their demand by Jan 21.
General secretary of KSO,
Seiboi Haokip said that since
2006 a total of 16 memoranda have been signed in this regard.
Sadly, the issue
remains unsolved.
ANSAM and KSO are ready to launch agitation
if the Govt still neglects the demands, he said.
