A confident looking Haobam Sangamita, who topped the HSLC examination the result of which was declared this afternoon, is aiming for the Indian Administrative Service.
Unperturbed by the hoards of reporters visiting her house for an interview, she sid she will first go for a teaching profession before trying for the IAS competitive examination.
Born to H Priyokumar and Mukeshwori of Chingmeirong Mamang Leikai, Sangamita is the eldest.
Her father is the deputy director of Manipur AIDS Control Society while mother is serving as a biochemist at the RIMS hospital.
Sangamita's schooling began from Nirmalabas.
Revealing the secret behind her success, Sangamita said she put atleast 10 hours everyday in study and engages private tutor as frequent bandh and blockades disrupt classes and syllabus are hardly covered.
She has chosen Kendriya Vidyalaya for her study upto XII.
She is aiming to go outside the state to pursue her further studies.
Sangamita assured the press team that she will work for the upliftment of women in the society once she succeeds in her IAS competitive examination.
Second position holder Sapam Lamyanba Khuman who likes Sherlock Holmes is aiming to become an IT professional.
Having won the science elocution competition organized by the Regional Research Laboratory in Jorhat and the "Year 2000 Competition on Computer and IT" organized by a computer firm, Lamyanba Khuman is still confident that he will do better in the next examination.
Sapam Lamyanba Khuman is the eldest son of Manipur University professor S Tomba and Kebol Girls Scholl teachers Ibemhal of Tera Sapam Leirak.
Lamyanba was of the idea that girls outshine boys because boys don't put half the effort the girls do.
He said boys will do much better if they put as much as the girls.
Third position Selina Thounaojam was only mark behind the second position holder, securing top scores in both mathematics and higher mathematics.
She said it was just a matter of luck that put her in the third position.
