Senior BJP leader and in-charge of Northeast Affairs, PB Acharya today categorically said the BJP is not in a hurry to form the government at the present juncture and said that the party will wait and watch for the opportune movement.
He also said there is no agenda to leave out the Samata Party from any front or alliance that may emerge in the near future.
Addressing a news conference at the party's office at Moirangkhom today, the BJP leader said the next government which will come once the present PR spell is revoked has to be naturally a Government led by the BJP.
He said being the single largest party in the Assembly it is only natural for the BJP to lead the next government.
He however ruled out any plan to form the government at the present juncture.
"BJP is not in a hurry to do so," he added.
Reacting to the news carried in this paper yesterday Acharya said there is no plan to leave out the Samata Party from the formation of any alliance or front.
Stating that the BJP is firmly wedded to the principle of coalition politics, Acharya said the Samata is welcome to join the front if they wish so.
He however appealed to the Samata to abide by the directives of the Central leaderships.
Acharya also said Governor Ved Marwah did a commendable job during the political crisis and added the recommendation for PR was taken as there was no other avenue left.
To a query why the State BJP unit and Samata Party were restrained from taking part in the Government formation, Acharya said the decision of the Central leadership is temporary and moreover the ground realities at the time had convinced the Central leadership to restrain the BJP from forming the government.
On the issue of burning issue of extension of ceasefire between the NSCN (IM) and the Centre to the State, Acharya assured that the BJP will respect the decision taken by the State Assembly, which is opposition to the truce extension proposal to Manipur.
