Imphal, June 06:
The NSCN (IM) has counter alleged that the opposition to the extension of the Naga peace initiative by "valley-based clubs under the umbrella of the so-called All Manipur United Clubs Organization (AMUCO), some human rights activists along with some vested interest state politicians in the so-called Manipur State" by using the plank of "Manipur Territorial Integrity", reflects their ignorance of their own history and political reality of contemporary period.
In a press release today, the NSCN (IM) said "Like the Nagas, the Meiteis too are free people, and therefore, they are also struggling for their own self-determination.
Since the beginning of their struggle till date for a sovereign Kangleipak, Nagas have been extending and supplementing logical support to the Meitei brothers." The release expressed surprised that AMUCO and few others are opposing the ongoing Indo-Naga ceasefire from being extended into all Naga inhabited areas.
"The so-called Manipur State, which is an Indian created state out of Kangleipak and a portion of Nagalim is not recognized by the Meiteis as well as by the Nagas except by a few Indian parrots." The release said.
Rallies "such as the 4th August 1997 which ignited the communal tension in Manipur" will not help.
"The present AMUCO threat to launch similar rally again will be counter productive and unfortunate as a few thousand crowd van not suppress nor throttle the national rights and political aspiration of the people." The release said.
