Churachandpur, July 03 2022:
Established in the year 2019, Khankho-Lom Banana Food & Fibre Processing Centre, Thingjabuang village in Churachandpur district is now fully prepared to produce various products like banana chips, powder, juices, fibre, ropes, handbag, doormat, badge, basket, home decoration, table cleaner, broom and carpet.
Though established with meagre fund polled in by like-minded groups, the centre is now venturing into making shawls and clothes from banana fibre on large scale after North East Centre for Technology Application and Reach (NECTAR) extended financial support.
The centre is now able to provide job to 30-40 people and planning to replace plastic products with bio-degradable products.
NECTAR senior official Dr Pompee Das and scientist Dr Nanaocha Sharma of the Institute of Bio-resources & Sustainable Development, Imphal on Saturday inspected the factory unit of the centre.
Both of them expressed their satisfaction on seeing the ongoing preparation being made for production of banana related products.
