NSCN-IM accuses Centre of not honouring Framework Agreement

Senapati, August 29 2022: Member of the Collective Leadership of NSCN/GPRN Rev A Puni has accused the Central Government of colluding with self interest groups and individuals to nullify the Framework Agreement signed on August 3, 2015 .

Addressing a function at Mao on August 27, the NSCN leader also claimed that the Centre is not honouring the agreement it signed to end the Naga issue.

Saying that the foundation of the Naga political aspiration is strong, Rev Puni added that the NSCN agreed to start a dialogue with the Government of India only after the latter recognised the decades old Naga issue as a political issue.

He claimed that the Government of India recognised the "unique history and situation of the Nagas on July 11, 2002 and it paved a way for political negotiation.

Continuing that the Framework Agreement was signed on August 3, 2015 to resolve the Naga issue, he claimed that the Framework Agreement acknowledges the intricacies of the Indian system and the need to end violence.

Accusing the Government of India of toying with the sentiments of the Naga people, he asserted that the Centre's unwillingness to negotiate on matters relating to the flag and constitution of Nagas is very unfortunate.

Flag and constitution are integral parts of sovereignty, the NSCN leader said and claimed that former Centre's interlocutor for Naga peace talks RN Ravi had even commented to share and draft the constitution with experts.

The competencies also cited that the "Naga National identity will be duly mentioned in the Indian passport," he claimed.

As per Rev Puni, the Framework Agreement ends with the words "Details and execution plan will be worked out and implemented shortly" .

Alleging that that the Government of India has failed to deliver its assurance, he contended that honouring the Framework Agreement would be beneficial to both the Nagas and India and also the neighbours.

He cautioned that dishonouring the Framework Agreement would bring more loss to India and the neighbours of the Nagas.

"We may be a tiny Nation but we have enough resources to stand on ground and face any eventuality.

We have proved and we will continue to prove that Nagas are not lost people," he asserted.

"There may be some differences among the Naga family in dealing with the political issue but any form of sell out shall be dealt with accordingly and traitors shall have no place in our land," he added.
