Convicted for drug pushing near school

Two men who were arrested back in 2001 for trying to sell heroin near a school have been convicted by the Special Judge of ND and PS, Fast Track Court today.
The order was announced today in an open Court today after it was kept reserved on July 25 against the convict Lianpu Simte s/o N Kampu Simte of Tengnuam village and Biaklian Paite s/o Jomkhothang Paite of Bungmual village.
Soon after the judgment was announced the convicted persons were taken into custody and remanded to judicial custody for sentence hearing on September 5 .
The trial was on against the convicts after they were arrested while trying to sell 500 grams of heroin.
They were arrested on September 8, 2001 at around 10 am based on complaints/information that they were trying to sell heroin inside the school campus.
Police, on reaching the main gate of the school found the convicts standing in a very suspicious manner holding a polythene bag.
On seeing the police they ran inside the school campus and entered the classroom from where they were along with the heroin.
During the trial seven prosecution witnesses were examined and no defense witnesses were produced from the side of convicts.
