Imphal, August 28 2019:
Expressing solidarity with the victims of the violence carried out by the NSCN (IM) in Chandel where some cadres of the outfit injured LH David Anal of Ruwangching village on August 22 and HL Realson Anal earlier and recalling the Kuki genocide between 1992 and 1995, the Kuki Think Tank Group (KTTG) has urged the Kukis to unite and fight the high handedness of the NSCN (IM).
In a statement, KTTG recalled a statement made by the United Minorities Liberation Army (UMLA) years ago in the wake of the their integration into the Kuki National Organisation.
KTTG quoted UMLA as having stated that the Maring people belong to the 'Old Kuki' which explained that the 'Old Kuki' and New Kuki' were terms coined by the British to carry out their divide and rule policy among the Kuki people.
The divide and rule policy was then carried on by the Tangkhul missionaries about thirty or so years ago, alleged UMLA and added that the Old Kukis in Chandel were identified as Nagas.
Later the NSCN (IM) used their gun power to threaten the people of Chandel to identify themselves as Nagas, alleged UMLA back then with the claim 'their policy is to divide the Kukis so that their ancestral lands can be included in 'Nagalim'".
It is through unity that external forces can be neutralised, said UMLA, recalled KTTG and noted the persistence of the "NSCN-IM puppets, the so-called FOH, who have, yet again, published unsolicited free political advice to the KNO & UPF".
The FOH is an organization, perhaps, of only three or four individuals, alleged KTTG.
The KTTG also rubbished the approach of the FOH to the KNO and UPF to withdraw their demand for Territorial Council and added that contrary to Territorial Council, the demand of the NSCN (IM) for Naga integration, separate flag and passport is unconstitutional.
The KTTG urged the NSCN-IM to stop persecuting innocent Kukis and perhaps reconsider whether they should continue their show titled "FOH", in their own interest, and in the interest of dignified peaceful coexistence.
