Student bodies claim KCP hand in kidnapping

With student organisations pointing an accusing finger at the KCP for the kidnapping of a student, Takhellambam Rahul, students community of Bishnupur took out a rally today in protest against the kidnapping of the class VII student of Don Bosco High School, chingmeirong.
Kidnapping of the 12-year old Rahul by the KCP Loya (Ningtamba group) was revealed to newspersons at a joint press conference held today at AMSU office in DM college campus.
The media briefing this evening was attended by DESAM general secretary A Thoithoi, AMSU general secretary N Depanjit, KSA president Y Pradipkumar, SWAK general secretary S Punshiba and Students' Union of Kangleipak vice president L Santosh.
Highlighting that Rahul had been missing since april 21 afternoon while returning to his hostel room after class, the student leaders quoted Don Bosco High School authorities of telling them that a caller claiming to be KCP Loya (Ningtamba group) activist informed them (school authorities) about Rahul's kidnapping by the armed group for a ransom of Rs 3 lakhs.

The student leaders reportedly approached the school authorities to enquire on Rahul's whereabouts during which information about the KCP group taking the boy in their custody was revealed, they maintained.
Expressing concern on the kidnapping of the young student for ransom by the armed group, the student leaders described the kidnapping as an act of terrorism.
Noting that the incident about kidnapping for ransom and subsequent murder of Lungnila Elizabeth is still fresh in the memory of the people of Manipur, they fervently appealed to the captors to ensure safe and sound release of Rahul at the earliest.
Presence of a number of armed groups, including fictitious revolutionary outfits and rogue security personnel, in Manipur has transformed the place into a vulnerable zone of kidnapping for ransom, they demanded that the KCP group not only release the boy but also clarify on the matter without delay.
The student leaders also reminded school authorities that safety of their respective students should be of paramount interest while opining that conceding to unjustifiable demand of armed groups will only embolden others to adopt similar tactics.
Functionaries of the student bodies also hoped that the menace of armed groups resorting to kidnap for ransom will not be repeated in the future.
Meanwhile, protesting the kidnapping of Takhellambam Rahul, a rally that commenced from Bishnupur bazar community hall marched upto the Bishnupur district Deputy Commissioner's office premises and Bishnupur district police station before gathering at Bishnupur Primary School campus where a sit-in-protest was also staged along with local meira paibis.
Among others students of Little Star English School, Bishnupur, Ngaikhong High School and Advance Learners' School took part at the protest rally cum demonstration.
It is informed that whereabouts of Rahul s/o T Sunil of Ngaikhong Khullen remains unknown since April 21 afternoon while he was returning to his hostel room after school.
Grimly noting recent reports about kidnapping of young boys by unknown person, some of the student protestors fervently appealed to all concerned for the safe release of Rahul at the earliest.
