Imphal, April 26 2012:
With regard to the killing of one Loitam Richard by his co-hostellers at Acharya NRV School of Architecture, Bangalaru on April 19, Home Minister Gaikhangam has written to his Karnataka counterpart to ensure speedy delivery of justice under the law of the land.
In his letter addressed to Karnataka Home Minister R Ashok, Gaikhangam said that the brutal killing of a Manipuri student has vitiated the image of Karnataka as a hospitable State.
It has shocked parents and also scared off Manipuris residing there.

Not only a large number of Manipuri students are enrolled in various educational institutions in Karnataka but many Manipuri professionals have settled and are working in companies in Karnataka and made it their second home.
The letter which was sent on April 20 also mentioned that a Manipuri students union based in Bangaluru has already lodged an FIR with the police.
A programme to demand justice for Loitam Richard will be held at Imphal, Uripok Yambem Leikai on April 29 at 4 pm.
