GOC inaugurates community halls

GOC Red Shield Division Maj Gen Binoy Poonnen has inaugurated and handed over two community halls constructed by 9 Engineering Regiment for Rs 4.48 lakhs at Hengjang Village of Senapati District and for Rs 5 lacs at Kanto Prem Nagar Village of Imphal West under 'Op Sadbhavana' .
The Major General also inaugurated a water scheme at Shantinagar village of Imphal (W) district today, informed a PIB (DW) release.
This scheme costing Rs 8.00 lakhs was unique in the Sector as it will provide 24 hrs natural spring water supply through gravity to the villagers from a source almost 2 kms away without the requirement of any external power supply, the release said.
The village chairmen of all three villages on behalf of all villagers expressed their gratitude to the Indian Army for the magnanimous assistance to their villages.
They assured that this gesture of the army would go a long way in helping in infrastructure development in the villages.
While addressing the villagers, Gen Poonnen urged them to derive maximum benefit from these facilities.
He assured the villagers that the Red Shield Division will always be committed for the people of Manipur for their safety, security and development in every sphere of life.
Meanwhile, as part of the Military Civic Action Programme undertaken by 33 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters 27 Sector, 33 AR has constructed an Irrigation Canal at Kangvai.
The canal was inaugurated by DIG 27 Sector Assam Rifles Brig VS Ranade on April 26 .
Addressing the gathering, Brig Ranade thanked the locals of Kangvai for their support towards the Security Forces operating in the area and appealed to them for their continued trust and support in future also.
The Commander also highlighted efforts of the Assam Ri fles in the service of the people of North East India and their long standing association.
He also commended 33 AR for undertaking various projects in its area for the benefit of the people.
The function was concluded with a vote of thanks and appreciation for the HQ 27 Sector, AR by prominent personalities and village heads of Kangvai area, added a PIB (DW) release.
