Chanura Lamchinglel Kangleipak (CLK) celebrates 19th foundation day

The 19th foundation day of the Chanura Lamchinglel Kangleipak (CLK) was celebrated today at Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul.
The occasion was graced by Dr K Sobita, Director Arts and Culture, Manipur; Thoudam Tampak Leima Chanu, president of CLK; and Y Leirik Leimap President Kangla Mei as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Giving the keynote address, general secretary of CLK, L Lilabati Chanu recounted that CLK was formed on March 21, 1993 with Mangangcha Chingkheinganbi as the president.
The CLK has been founded with an attempt to bring a change to the society.
True to its commitment, CLK has consistently and humbly worked for betterment of the society, Lilabati asserted.
Giving an account of the activities of the CLK, she said the CLK has implemented integrated education development programme, organised seminars, apart from taking major role in the formation of Apunba Lup against AFSPA.

Delivering her speech, Dr K Sobita acknowledged the contribution of CLK towards development and empowerment of women in the State.
She also assured to extend moral support to any constructive activities initiated by the association.
Speaking on the occasion, H Ibotombi Khuman, adviser of IPSA rued about the minimal power supply the people of the State get.
He pointed out that the people confronted more troubles with the construction of big dams.
He charged that power generated from the State is given out to other states for commercial gain.
He noted that due to power supply shortage no small scale industries in the State could survive or script a success story.
Adviser of CORE, Phulindro Konsam acknowledged the contribution of women for betterment of the society since time immemorial.
They even resisted the mighty British Army.
He said, women should not shy away from social responsibilities.
Both men and women have equal responsibilities in order to bring development or change in the society.
Underscoring that right to life is a total failure in the State where fake encounter killings are common, women should take responsibilities in fighting the menace.
President of FREINDS, Sapamcha Jadumani said, around 2000 people have been killed in the State since the last ten years.
There is no chance of employment for educated youth who do not have enough money.
Speaking as the guest of honour, President of Kangla Mei Y Leirik Leima said various women's organisations of the State participate in various issues faced by the State.
He also called for equal responsibilities of men and women towards development of the State.
