Imphal, February 15 2013:
Troops of 10 Assam Rifles came under two successive bomb attacks on Uripok-Kangchup road between Lamshang and Heibongpokpi in Imphal West district this afternoon.
The first bomb exploded at about 3.40 pm and it was followed by another blast a few seconds later.
Both the bombs were remote-controlled IEDs of medium intensity.
They were planted underground about 10 feet apart on the northern side of the road.
The AR troops who are posted at Kangchup were returning to their camp in a Casper Gypsy and a truck when the bombs exploded all of a sudden.
They were coming back after seeing off some personnel who were going on leave.
There is no report of any casualty on the part of the Assam Rifles troops.
But another source said that one AR personnel suffered a minor injury on the face.
Soon after the twin blasts, Lamshang police, Imphal West commandos and 10th AR reinforcements rushed to the blast site.
The blasts left two craters about two feet deep and two feet wide in diameter.
There were no splinters in both the bombs.
On searching the adjoining areas, police recovered two pencil batteries and an electronic circuit board.
