Imphal, October 13 2015:
The Teachers' Welfare Association, SK Women's College, Nambol has registered strong opposition to the proposal for setting up a B Ed Centre by abolishing SK Women's College, Nambol.
Addressing reporters at Manipur Press Club, Kh Manao, president of Teachers' Welfare Association, SK Women's College said that the association welcomed the move to establish a BEd college at Nambol.
However, it would oppose the attempt to open the BEd centre by vested interests at the cost of the SK Women's College.
He said that the B Ed centre may be opened at another suitable location in Nambol.
It is irrational to set up the BEd centre at the college even after the governing body of the college has rejected the proposal, he said.
Kh Manao accused one Associate Professor of Nambol L Sanoi College of contriving to abolish SK Women College and set up a BEd centre in its place by submitting misleading and unfounded reports to the authority concerned.
The association will submit representations to the Education Minister, Chief Secretary, Commissioner of Higher and Technical Education and other concerned authorities to urge them to look into the matter and do the needful, he added.
