Kangvai HS to be upgraded

Attending the platinum jubilee celebration of Zillai (Vaiphei Students' Association) today at Kangvai village in CCpur district, Chief Minister O Ibobi assured to upgrade the village Government H/S to a higher secondary school while he also promised to grant a girl's hostel for the school under RMSA.
The Chief Minister made this assurance while praising Zillai for concentrating purely on the welfare of students and their education for the past 75 years.
He ironically expressed surprise on why the student body has never petitioned him for educational facilities though he was in their midst twice and also at the same place before making the announcement.

Besides the school upgradation, Ibobi also promised to look into the petition of Zillai Hqtrs requesting an acre of land at Imphal for setting up their office and other amenities for students.
As part of the celebration the Chief Minister unveiled a 13 foot tall jubilee stone and released a magazine and an album as well.
Founded way back in 1939 at Maite village, Zillai, Education Minister M Okendro said Zillai has the distinction of being the second oldest student body in the State.
Other Ministers and MLAs accompanying the Chief Minister were PHED Minister I Hemochandra Singh, Works Minister Dr Kh Ratan Kumar Singh, Deputy Speaker Preshow Shimray, Saikot MLA TN Haokip besides chief host of the event, Henglep MLA T Manga Vaiphei.
The two days festivity that began last night is set to witness other political big-wigs of the State flocking the venue as the student body has invited Assembly Speaker Th Lokeshwar Singh, three Parliamentary Secretaries and two MLAs for tonight's event.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam and Agriculture Minister Md Abdul Nasir are set to separately grace tomorrow's day and night event along with four Ministers during the day and two MLAs, and a host of ADC members at night.
The highlight of the concluding night includes Miss Platinum contest as well.
