The government would try to upgrade the Kangvai High School to the level of higher secondary before the commencement of next academic session.
Moreover, there is also a plan to construct a residential hostel for girl students under RAMSA at an estimated cost of Rs 2.20 crore, the CM announced.
Maintaining that the government would work together the local MLA to ensure that the school does not lack facilities and infrastructure which are needed for bringing quality education, he assured that the government after discussing with the local MLA would look into the request made by the association wherein it asked to provide land in Imphal for construction of its headquarter.
However, it would be difficult for the government to provide 1 acre of land in area under the jurisdiction of Imphal Municipal Council.
If there is enough land in the capital then the government will not be hesitated to provide land to student organizations for construction of its headquarters; Ibobi said.
Pointing out that the setting up of a student organization inside the DM College campus which is a government's land was unfortunate, the CM hailed initiatives taken up by Zillai Vaiphei Student's Association for welfare of student community.
Education Minister, M Okendro who was also present on the occasion as guest of honor said that the Zillai Vaiphei Students' Association is the second oldest students' organization in the State, while adding that if other students' organizations follow suit of the association then education system in the State would be strengthened.
