Manipur bag 3 golds, 1 silver on day 1 of NE Games

Imphal, December 10 2014:
State Judokas clinched three gold and one silver medals in the 28th National Level North East Games held in Arunachal Pradesh.
The three gold medals were won by Chinglakpa, I Sandya and N Bina in 50kg, 63 kg and 63+ kg categories.
Earlier, the opening ceremony of the games was held at Sangey Laden Sports Academy, Chimpu, Itanagar in a traditional style.
The Games was participated by 1100 players including 665 men and 446 women from the eight north eastern states, including Sikkim.
This is the fourth time Arunachal is hosting the games.
Organised by Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Govt of Arunachal Pradesh and sponsored by Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, Govt of India under Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan, the national level north east games began with unfurling of sports flag followed by march past by participants from different north eastern states.
The 3-day sports events that comprises Athletics, Boxing, Karate, Judo, Archery, Wushu, Football, Weightlifting, Teakwondo and Badminton was declared open by Likha Saya, Parliamentary Secretary, Home in the presence of Arunachal Pradesh Chief Secretary Dharmendra Sharma, MLAs and Officials from Government of India and other north eastern states.
