A team of 24 doctors were flagged off from the presmise of the Indian Medical Association Manipur, Lamphelpat, by Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu today, for participating in the 1st Indo-Myanmar Medical Conference which will be held at Mandalay under the aegis of IMA Manipur State Branch and Mandalay Medical Association, Myanmar, on July 7 .
Speaking to media persons, IMA Manipur State Branch State president Dr Shyamkumar Laishram said that IMA Manipur State Branch and Mandalay Medical Association, Myanmar, have been planning to organise such a doctors meet since last year.
Expressing satisfaction at being able to organise the meet this year, Dr Shyamkumar said that scientific meeting and deliberation will form the crux of the doctors meet.
The doctor team from India, will speak on various topics at the event, he said adding that the IMA HQ representatives will speak about the various activities of IMA.
On the other hand, Dr Nabakanta Sharma will speak on the topic of maternal health in South Est Asia region, Dr Devkanta will speak on the topic of medical tourism in Manipur while he, himself, will speak on prevention of child sex abuse.
He continued that a get together will also be organised on July 7 which will be attended by the CM of Saigang Region, Myanmar, Indian Consulate General followed by cultural programmes in which groups representing Manipur will showcase their performance.
The doctor team will also visit Mandalay Government hospital, he added.
He further informed that IMA HQ North East Committee Dr RN Tandon will also take part in the conference.
