Nabakishore optimistic of Seri Project's future

Assuring the worried entrepreneurs who have taken up projects in Sericulture, Principal Secretary of Sericulture O Nabakishore today said that Japan would surely sanction its fund for the second phase of Manipur Sericulture Project.
Speaking at the inaugural function of a two-day workshop on rearing silkworms at Project Management Complex, Sangaipat, Imphal today as Chief Guest, Nabakishore said that Japan International Co-Operation Agency (JAICA) is reliably learnt to have included Rs 356 crores this year in its plan for the Sericulture Project in Manipur.
Though the matter is yet to be confirmed officially, there is high possibility that the fund would be received as the Ministry of Textile and Ministry of Finance has already given its approval.
Besides, the state government had sanctioned Rs 10 crores for the project in previous year and in this year too it has committed to sanction Rs 14 crores for the project, the Principal Secretary observed.
He maintained that the silk products produced in the state are one of the finest qualities and there is the need for branding the products.
Exporting the silk products in the international market would help in a big way in developing the economy of the state.
Joint Secretary, Central Silk Board Sarat Deori; Scientist of Central Silk Board Dr P Jayprakash and Director Sericulture H Ginjamang Simte were also present during the function.
