Imphal, July 03 2012:
"No one would be able to disintegrate the territorial integrity of Manipur when people in the hills and valley unite and face the real threat.
History is the testimony of how the people of Manipur both from Hills and Plain drove back intruders", titular king of Manipur Leishemba Sanajaoba has stated.
Speaking as Chief Guest of the 12th foundation day of United Committee Manipur (UCM) its office at Lamphelpat here today, the titular king said that the people of Manipur have successfully always fought against intruders from infiltrating into the territory of Manipur to grab its land.
Today, the people are facing some black sheeps, who are trying to disintegrate the territorial integrity of Manipur.
But they will never succeed in their attempt because the territory of Manipur has been drawn with bloods of the forefathers of the people in both the hills and plain.
He also appealed to those groups demanding separate homelands or similar demands to come forward to clear the air of animosity and distrust.
UCM President Yumnam Nabachandra, who presided over the function, said that UCM was born out of unity when the India government extended the Cease Fire Agreement signed with NSCN-IM into the boundary of Manipur.
However, the unity of the people of the state and the supreme sacrifice made by the 18 great martyrs made the India government to reconsider the agreement and later deleted the controversial phrase 'Without Territorial Limit' from the agreement.
UCM always long for unity and welcome any proposition for unity, he said while welcoming the remark of AMUCO President KT Rehman, who said that the time will come soon when the June 18 incident will be observed together.
President IPSA, Elangbam Johnson; President UPF, BM Yaima Shah; President NIPCO, Sunil Karam; President AMKIL, Sakhi Leima; Secretary PANDAM, Pongmai Gangte and President KANGLAMEI, Y Leirik Leima also attended the function.
