Flush out Ops on Govt agenda

Perturbed by the frequent clashes between Naga UG groups which have claimed many lives including civilians and women in Tamenglong district, the Government is set to launch intensified flush out operations.
Acting on a State Government's report that many parts of Tamenglong district are controlled by different UG groups, the authority has decided to send in army to flush out the militants, informed a source.
Having received reports both from the police and the army about IEDs planted at different places along different roads passing through Tamenglong, particularly Old Cachar Road, the authorities would first sanitise the roads so as to make them safe from the security point of view.

On the other hand, Home Minister G Gaikhangam presided a meeting today and reviewed the security situation of Tamenglong district.
The meeting was attended by DGP Y Joykumar, GOC Maj Gen Binoy Poonnen, Principal Secretary (Works) Ram Muivah and Home Department officials.
Another source informed that the road Bishnupur to Khoupum would be developed at the cost of Rs 140 crores with funding from the North Eastern Council.
Likewise, the Tupul-Kasom Khullen road would also be developed at the cost of Rs 350 crores with monetary assistance from the Asian Development Bank.
