Around 250 houses damaged in Wangoi

Imphal, April 25 2016:
As witnessed in various parts of the State, extensive damages were done in many villages of Wangoi AC in Imphal West district by windstorms and hailstones that lashed the State during the last three/four days.
It is reported that around 250 houses were damaged in Paobitek, Upokpi, Top Siphai and adjoining villages.
Moreover, many people have been enduring additional hardship caused by floods.
Altogether 50 structures including dwelling houses, community halls and school buildings of the three villages have been completely destroyed.
Former MLA and BJP State Secretary Salam Joy and the Wangoi SDC visited the affected villages today.
After making a field inspection of the damages done by rainstorms and hailstones, Joy appealed to the Government to provide immediate relief measures.
Extensive damages were also inflicted in Mayang Imphal AC.
There the affected villages have been provided immediate relief materials following active intervention of a Minister and the DC concerned.
However, no Government authority has not bothered to visit the affected villages of Wangoi AC, Joy decried.
He said that rainstorms and hailstones inflicted injuries to around 10 people in Wangoi AC.
In addition to the woes caused by rainstorms and hailstones, many people are now facing the misery of floods.
