CIFE training boost for fish farmers

Imphal, November 24 2012:
An interactive workshop cum farmers' meet on 'Fisheries and aqua-culture development in Manipur: HRD & Research Needs' was organised at the Panchayat Hall of State Institute of Rural Development, Imphal East today.
The programme was organised by the Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE), Mumbai in association with State's department of Fisheries.
In his presidential address, Director/Vice Chancellor (CIFE) Dr WS Lakra assured to organise training programmes for 20 officials of Department of Fisheries, Govt of Manipur and same number of progressive farmers on recent technological advancement in aquaculture at the Mumbai institute.

maintaining that all possible financial assistance for the training programmes would be provided by the CIFE, the Director also confided that Loktak Lake development programmes would be initiated by the Institute in association with the State's Fisheries department.
During an interaction session, attended by over 200 farmers from various parts of the hill and valley districts, CIFE's Principal Scientists Dr AK Reddy and Dr PP Srivas-briefed the gathering on the new development in aquacul-ture technologies.
