Campaign against child labour

Signature cum postcard campaign against child labour has been kicked off today by the deputy commissioner of Imphal West, Radha Kumar at Lamphel DC complex in Imphal, organized by Manipur Domestic Workers Movement Organisation (MDWMO).
The deputy commissioner stressed the need to educate children and mould them into good citizens and make the state free from child labour.
Spokesperson of MDWMO, David Gangmei appealed the labour department to expedite process of child labour and warned that those involved in child labour would be booked under the child labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act of 1986 .
He also added that government has included children working as domestic workers and those working in dhabas, roadside, eateries, etc as categorized in hazardous occupations.
The organization that it had rescued and repatriated 44 domestic workers till date, revealed Agnes Khala, state co-ordinator speaking on the sideline of the programme.
