Imphal, April 24 2012:
Family member of a B Arch student from Manipur, Loitam Richard, who was reportedly killed by hostelmates recently in Bangalore have refuted the report that Richard was beaten to death after he switched the TV channel as reported in the State media.
Talking to the media at their Uripok Yambem Leikai's residence, father of Richard, Dr Rajesh said the report that his son was killed by seniors for switching TV channel was unfounded.
He said his son was a sports loving boy who liked both cricket and football.
He alleged that Richard died due to negligence of the college authority as well as hostel superintendent/warden.
Dr Rajesh said Richard was beaten by his hostelmates in the night of April 17 .
The next day he was informed by a doctor through phone that his son had expired.

When The Sangai Express contacted the State DGP R Baral today, the officer said that a police team led by a DSP from the Special Branch of the CID which was deputed to Bangalore has returned, after preliminary investigation.
The DGP said that the post mortem report is being awaited which may take a week's time and added that he has already spoken to the ADGP (L and O) of Karnataka police.
Dr Rajesh said that the news should have been communicated by the college authority.
He said it is very suspicious that the news of his death was communicated by the doctor.
He also rubbished the report of the college that his son died due to an accident.
Though he agreed that his son met an accident before the incident, Dr Rajesh maintained that it was not fatal.
He expressed deep suspicion that two seniors of Richard, might have been involved the death of Richard.
The grieving dad expressed hope that the Karnataka Government would solve the matter at the earliest.
Meanwhile, womenfolk of Uripok Yambem Leikai staged a sit-in protest demanding the arrest of the culprits involved in the killing of L Richard.
