Richard's family demands justice

The family members of Loitam Richard, who was reportedly beaten up to death by some senior hostellers of Archarya College of Architecture, Bangalore for allegedly changing the TV channel while the rest were watching a IPL match, have appealed to the Karnataka government and the state government to bring out the truth behind the incident and punish the culprits involved in the heinous crime.
Loitam Richard was a first year student of Architecture Engineering in Archarya College of Architecture, Bangalore.
He was reportedly beaten to death by some senior hostellers of the college on alleged charge of switching the TV channel on the night of April 18 .
Condemning the brutal killing of Richard, a sit-in-protest was staged by Meira Paibis and women folks of Uripok Yambem Leikai today.
Speaking to mediapersons on the sideline of the protest demonstration, Dr L Rajesh, father of late L Richard, said that the death of his son was informed by the doctor of the hostel.
However, when they reached the College in Bangalore and checked the room of his son, they found that the door knob of the room stained with blood.
His head and body also bore several cut marks.
Dr Rajesh contended that the report that his son was beaten up by hostellers for changing the TV channel was false and baseless.
He was beaten up by a senior student.
The heartbroken father appealed to the Karnataka government to bring out the truth behind the case and take up appropriate actions to punish the culprits involved in the act.
The Manipur state government should also urged the Karnataka government in this regard and take up appropriate measures so that such incidents do not occur in future.
Placards and festoons which read "Save the lives of Manipuris studying outside", "Investigate the case of L Richard", etc were used during the protest demonstration.
