23rd State Thang-Ta Championships begins

Imphal, April 24 2012:
THe 23rd State Thang-Ta Championships � 2012 has began today at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium with 345 players from four districts competing with each other.
The Huyel Langlon Thang-Ta Association, Manipur is organising the championships through Sub Junior, Junior, Senior categories for both boys and girls.
Imphal West is being represented by players from 13 different units while 10 units are representing Imphal East.
Thoubal and Bishnupur districts are being represented by four units each.

The inaugural function was graced by Padmashri RK Achouba and Chief Advisor, Thang-Ta Federation of India Birjit Ngangomba as Chief Guest and President respectively.
Principal, National Sports Academy, T Purnachandra, Advisor IPSA, H Ibotombi Khuman and Principal Eastern Kala Vidya Thang-Ta Association Kh Dhabalo Khaba were also present at the function as Guests of Honour.
In today's events, Thongam Binikanta of Mayang Imphal won gold in Sub Junor Boys' 25 kg Phunaba Anishuba while Ng Albert of Mongshangei and Abujam Joswabanta of Moirang Khunou won silver and bronze respectively.
The gold for 29 kg category was won by Th Sushil of Mimatta Naoremthong.
L Basu of HIyangthang and O Amarjit of Yumnam Huidrom won silver and bronze respectively.
N Thoitomba of Heigrujam won gold in 33 kg category while the silver and bronze were won by Th Romajit of Keibi Taret Khul and N Klintan of Mimatta Naoremthong.
In Sub Junior Girls's Phunaba Ama, A Hemabati of Pahulashi won gold in 25 kg category.
RK Tapishana of Sacred Heart School and Th Tanuja of Pahulashi, Mayai Koibi won silver and bronze respetively.
Y Bipravya of Sacred Heart School won gold in 29 kg category while the silver and bronze were won by S Benu of Heigrujam and Th Priyanka of Pahulashi Mayai Koibi respectively.
In 37 kg category, Ksh Olivia and Th Priyanka of Sacred Heart School won gold and silver respectively and the bronze was won by Th Dipsaya of Pahulashi.
