GOC flags off recruitment rally at Senapati

The Red Shield Division of the Army started a massive recruitment rally at Senapati today with a view to recruit eligible youth of the district into the Indian Army.
The recruitment drive which will continue till July 29 is being held at the Mini Stadium complex in Senapati.
GOC 57 Mountain Division Maj Gen Binoy Poonnen flagged off the rally which covered a 1.6 km run amidst cheers and cries of 'Long live India, long live Indian Army', informed a PIB (DW) statement.
On the occasion, Commander 50 Mountain Brigade Brig SK Sharma, Senapati AC MLA Alexander Pao, SP (Senapati) Pushpanjali, NPO chairman Marxon and many other socio-political leaders from Senapati were also present at the event.
Alexander Pao, while expressing gratitude called the event a great opportunity for the youth of the region to join the prestigious Indian Army.
He appreciated the efforts of Red Shield Division and expressed hope that this rally will enable the youth to join the mainstream and shun the path of violence.
Maj Gen Binoy Poonnen addressing the gathering said that many such drives by the Indian Army may be planned in the near future.
While speaking to the candidates, he highlighted the martial prowess of the people of the region and expressed his happiness on the overwhelming participation of over 10,000 young men in the rally.
He assured the gathering that the Red Shield Division is committed to bring peace and prosperity in the region.
