Public meet to decide NH-2 bandh

Ahead of the 96 hours bandh called by the United Naga Council (UNC) on NH 2 which would come into effect from the midnight of July 23, a public meeting would be held at Senapati district head-quarters at 10 am of July 22 .
Talking to The Sangai Express, UNC president L Adani said that should the bandh called on Imphal-Dimapur highway be put off, it must be done by a collective decision of the public.
A few days back the Union Home Ministry sent a letter to the UNC informing that its demand was being considered actively, Adani said.
However, the Home Ministry's letter has certain vague areas and it has been pointed out.

Saying that the UNC is awaiting a response, Adani informed that the public meeting scheduled tomorrow at 10 am would take a a definite decision on the proposed 96 hours highway bandh.
Among others, the meeting would be participated by executive members of the UNC and representatives of other frontal organisations, he added.
Meanwhile, a reliable source informed that the Union Home Ministry has assured the UNC that their demand for resuming the tripartite dialogue would be considered definitely.
Along with the assurance to consider their demand for resumption of the tripartite talk, the Home Ministry has appealed to the UNC to call off the proposed highway bandh.
