Girl taken for UG recruitment rescued

A young girl reportedly carried away for recruitment in the banned outfit KCP has been rescued by Thoubal District Police.
This was informed by Kakching SDPO A Ghanashyam during a press meet at Thoubal District Police headquarters this afternoon.
Ghanashyam claimed that the district police rescued the girl from Pallel Bazar at about 2.30 pm yesterday.
The girl was found when police checked a van (MN-01X/2125) which was heading for Moreh from Imphal and it was being driven by one Md Firoz Khan (29) s/o Abdul Gani of Lilong Ushoipokpi Makha Tharoilok.
On questioning Md Firoz Khan, it was learnt that the girl was being taken for recruitment in KCP.
The plan was to hand over the girl to one KCP activist Deepak who would in turn hand over the girl to KCP cadre known as Wanglen at Moreh, the SDPO conveyed as disclosed by Firoz.
Firoz has been arrested together with the van he was driving.
The rescued girl identified as Irungbam Sunita (14) of Thamnapokpi Awang Leikai near Yaingangpokpi in Imphal East district has been handed over to her family safe and sound.
