Lockdown: CSOs, politicians and others continue to extend helping hands

Reaching out to his people, ADC Executive Member A Rang distributed essential commodities to villagers in Maram Khullen under Mao Maram sub-division.
The former Ex-servicemen from the biggest village of the Maram tribe extended edible items like potato, salt, water, hand wash kit, face mask, etc at Mathak, Khullakpa and Makha Sagai villages.
The ADC Member while appealing the people to adhere to lockdown directives as enforced by State Government, stated that the ADC Senapati has been actively involved in reaching out to villagers in every corner and has also provided essential items to stranded students, non-local labourers and medical fraternity.
Meanwhile, the Maram Khullen Village Authority has expressed gratitude and appreciation to A Rang for the generous help with essential commodities.
Distribution of relief materials was also carried out at different locations across the State with organisations, social workers and elected representatives taking the lead.
Integrated Rural Management Association (IRMA) with United NGOs Mission Manipur (UNMM) in response and fight against COVID-19, distributed food items covering 50 vulnerable families along with spreading awareness in 17 villages of Kangpokpi district, Manipur.
The organization expressed its gratitude and support rendered by the District Administration Kangpokpi.
Jiribam: PHED Department, Jiribam also provided drinking water to the select populace of the district using a hired private tanker, who are affected by the Nationwide lockdown, said Executive Engineer W Anand Kumar Singh to a team of journalists.
On visiting, the media team witnessed that the department is short of staff and their water tank carrier was also found lying defunct.
To ensure food for the people on the outbreak of COVID-19 and subsequent imposition of lockdown in the State, the PDS rice under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana (PMGKAY) for public distribution has begun dispersing from the FCI godown of Jiribam District.
Today, while dispersing rice, L Ibotombi Singh, District Supply Officer, Jiribam said the rice for PDS under PMGKAY is being dispersed for the Fair Price Shops of Jiribam.
A total of 1856.90 quintals of PMGKAY rice has sanctioned for Jiribam District and it will be distributed at 32 Fair Price Shops at free of cost.
UCM reaches out
United Committee Manipur, having helped the students living on rented accommodations and daily wage earners, continued to reach out to the people of Chadong Maphou Village in Kamjong district today with edibles as lockdown due COVID-19 continues.
The items which include, rice, pulses, onion, salt and edible oils were handed out to residents at three localities of Chadong Maphou Village by a team of UCM COVID-19 Special Task Force.
Sunil Karam, president of UCM, on the sideline of the distribution, appealed all to stick with the norms and guidelines issued by the State Government during the lockdown.
He also drew the attention of the State to ensure a sufficient supply of essential commodities.
The villagers as a mark of gratitude also presented locally grown vegetables to the team, said a press release of UCM.
RRC extends gratitude
Project Director of Realize Rehabilitation Centre located at Mongjam Chingjin Ole Wangkheimayum has extended gratitude to the Liangmai brothers of Konsa Khul, Kangpokpi for providing numbers of banana plants to the centre.
Speaking to media persons, Ole said that it was a good deed indeed during this critical juncture where all are facing a lot of obstacles in procuring essential commodities due to the ongoing lockdown.
As per the wishes of Liangmai people, Ole appealed all Rehab Centres to get the edible from RCC.
Moirang: The distribution of relief materials by Moirang Block Congress Committee under the aegis of former MLA, M Prithiviraj also continued today with the residents under Kwakta Gram Panchayat receiving the relief materials.
A team of Police Community Liaison Group, Bishnupur also extended food items to inmates at two homes namely, Nura Poireikol Home for Mentally Retarded Girls in Bishnupur Ward No 4 and Girls World Open Shelter Home at Nganuleima Leirak.
The distributed items include sugar, tea, milk, biscuits, eggs, Maggi and commonly used medicines.
CCpur: The Indian Red Cross Society, Churachandpur district has today presented face masks, hand sanitizer and hand gloves to media personnel in the district who are at the forefront in the fight against the pandemic despite the risked involved for their safety.
Later, the ADC Churachandpur also reached out to the media community, giving them about half-a-dozen pieces of face masks each to reporters.
The Red Cross Society and the ADC are the first and the only ones to have reached out to the community so far.
While the IRCS continued the distribution of hand sanitizer and face masks to roadside vegetable vendors, the ADC has also extended their masks to various philanthropic organisations operating in the district.
Moreh: T Thangkholun Haokip, an active member of BJP has also doled out 5 kg rice each to the households at Khunou Leikai, Turel Wangma Leikai, Heinoumakhong Leikai, Chavangphai, Canan Veng, Zion Veng, M Chahnou, Chikim village, Lhangkichoi Veng, New Moreh under 15 Moreh Constituency today.
Imphal West: Dr Kh Loken, former MLA of Sagolband Assembly Constituency has also taken out a noble campaign by distributing edibles for inmates at Tera Children Home, Children Home at Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai and BB Paul Mental Development Home, Mongsangei.
The former MLA has been actively leading the sanitary campaigns on account of the COVID-19 pandemic apart from distributing relief materials to the households under Sagolband AC.
Pradhan of Lamjaotongba Gram Panchayat, Elangbam Ongbi Sushila also carried out a similar drive to hand out food items to households in 11 Wards in her GP.
Awang Leikinthabi Development Committee also distributed ngari, salt and other essential items at its locality through its fund.
Imphal East: Social worker, Mongjam Poireihanba also distributed edibles at locales under Chinungkhok, Pungdongbam, Sawombung Gram Panchayats and Lamlai Municipal Council.
Thoubal: Education Enhancement Organisation (EEO), Lamding has also extended edible items to some localities under Sangaiyumpham Gram Panchayat apart from localities under Wangjing Lamding Municipal Council Ward No 2, 3 through "EEO COVID-19 Relief Fund" .
Social Cultural Educational and Sports Development Organisation, Heirok has also extended financial and other aid to those residing on rented houses.
Meanwhile, in a very beautiful gesture, Tangkhul brethren from Lunghar village under Kangpokpi district, have also offered banana plant, banana flower, cinnamon and other vegetables to those residing at Shikhong Khunou, Shikhong Bazar, Shikhong Khumbi and Nongpok Sekmai Khul in Thoubal district.
The local clubs and organisations of the villages also expressed gratitude to the Tangkhul brethren for their heartwarming gesture.
MLA of Lilong AC, Abdul Nasir also continued to serve the need of the people during the lockdown by distributing free rice to selected most deprived families under Lilong Turel Ahanbi Atoukhong GP.
He also appealed to approach him personally for any assistance or through the committee formed to distribute essential items under his supervision.
Essential items were also distributed to 2000 households under Wangkhem Gram Panchayat by Zilla Parishad Member, Kh Bilasini and Pradhan of the GP, Md Fazal Khan.
Kakching: Meanwhile at Kakching, 1984 batch of Kakching High School handed out 4 kg of rice, 1 kg of potatoes, 1 kg of cabbage and 250 ml of edible oil to 60 impoverished households in Kakching.
On the other hand, president of United Council of Sora, ML Zulfiqar Alam Sheikh has encouraged Police personnel by presenting eatables.
