Imphal, May 16 2009:
The judgement of the NSCN (IM)'s general court martial with regard to the murder of Dr Kishan and his two staff was nothing but condoning falsehood and guilty persons while overriding truth and facts, asserted the UNLF in a press release issued by its senior publicity officer Ksh Yoiheiba.
Reiterating that triple murder of Dr Kishan, Y Token and A Rajen was cold blooded and highly criminal one perpetrated under the communal politics of NSCN (IM), UNLF said it already knew that the NSCN (IM) leadership would never do justice in the heinous murder case.
"And it has been proven true," Yoiheiba asserted.
Only Lt Col Hopeson Ningshen has been penalised in a very soft and nominal manner while the other accused Ukhrul town commander Apho Sibo and Maj Ashang have been conspicuously let off.
Even as the general court martial took suspended DC Pankaj Kumar Pal as the mastermind of the triple murder, the court did not mention anything about the huge amounts of money misappropriated by the DC in cahoot with NSCN (IM) for the last many years.
Saying that what is truth and fact should be spoken out, the outfit iterated that it was pointless for the UNLF to wage the liberation movement if it could not speak out the truth.
Truth and facts are universal.
There is no variation to what is truth and fact because of one's community, race, colour or religion.
Making allegations posthumously after carrying out the murder in the most brutal manner was not acceptable in a civilised society nor appropriate for a group which thinks itself powerful.
Had Dr Kishan and his two staff committed a little bit of punishable fault, the NSCN (IM) could have pronounced the same before murdering them or right after the bestial crime.
But making allegations after the murder as if 'Dead men don't speak' was nothing but a tactic aimed justifying their criminal act, the UNLF asserted.
It was not a sound judgement to blame some other people in their bid to mitigate the degree of guilt bred by the crime committed.
The ploy to turn right to wrong and vice versa would have serious implications.
This may encourage liars and morally sick elements within NSCN (IM) to commit serious crimes in future.
Because of its efforts to absolve guilty members knowingly, the NSCN (IM) which has been waging the liberation struggle for more than 60 years has earned the credit of producing many hard-core criminals.
The stance adopted by the UNLF on the murder case of Dr Kishan and his two staff would be the same if the victims were members of any other community.
"Because it is a moral obligation of the UNLF to protect citizens of Manipur, to punish criminals befittingly and to uphold truth and justice", Yoiheiba elaborated.
The UNLF further exhorted the NSCN (IM) to do truth in the name of gold, uphold justice, keep its words and also to strive towards peaceful co-existence with all communities.
