The identity of four persons who were either shot dead by security personnel during reported encounter or by unidentified armed persons have been established today.
The two persons, alleged UG suspects, who were shot dead by a combined force of Imphal West District Police Commandos and personnel of 12 Maratha Light Infantry during an encounter which took place at Mayang Imphal Konchak pat yesterday afternoon have been identified as Yumnam Bamkim (21) s/o Mayumngan of Mayang Imphal and Yendrenbam Shyamkumar alias Boy (22) s/o Ibomcha of Waheng Khuman Mamang Leikai.
According to sources, at the request of Shyamkumar who had been earlier arrested by the police on alleged charge of having connection with KYKL, both of them have gone out together yesterday morning for taking part in a feast arranged at Leimapokpam Khunpham but were picked up in a red coloured Santro car by some persons suspected to be Police Commandos in civvies.
Their bodies have not yet been claimed by the family members and are still lying at the mortuary of RIMS Hospital.
The identity of the two persons who were found shot dead by unidentified armed persons along the tractor route of Chiru Loukon located behind Khurkhul last night have also been identified today as Soraisam Jiten (36) s/o late Bidhu of Sagoltongba but residing at Lamshang and Kongjengbam Manao Meitei (22) s/i Rajendro of Lamdeng Mayai Leikai.
Claiming responsibility for the killing, the proscribed KYKL in a statement has stated that both of them were involved in abduction for ransom of the son of Dr N Iboton, who is the Dean of Central Agriculture University.
Both of them were reportedly killed on the night of April 14 .
On the other hand, the body of a newly born baby girl which was found near the public toilet of Wahengbam Leikai Bus Parking on the afternoon of May 12 has been disposed off today as unclaimed body.
As the non-teaching staff of RIMS took mass casual leave today in pursuance of their demand for paying off pending salaries for two months, the post mortem examination of other cases with exception to that the body of a baby girl which was found abandoned and an AR personnel who died from some illness, have not been conducted today.
At present, 14 bodies are lying at the mortuary of RIMS Hospital.
This include the six KYKL members who were killed at Koutrak, two persons who were killed by security personnel at Mayang Imphal, two others killed by KYKL at Khurkhul, three bodies recovered from Khordak and another who died in T Minou blast.
