Imphal, May 15 2009:
Close on the heels of the RIMS nurses' threat of indefinite cease-work stir which was suspended in the nick of time, non-teaching employees of the institute have decided to take mass casual leave tomorrow demanding payment of two months' overdue emolument.
Speaking to media persons at RIMS complex today, president of the Non-Teaching Employees' Welfare Association N Rasantakumar accused RIMS authority of forfeiting due shares and rights of the non-teaching employees.
In the course of time, many staff appointed on contract basis have been regularised of whom many have retired.
In addition to the long standing grievances, emoluments for the months of March and April have not been paid till date.
In response to the appeal of the non-teaching employees, RIMS authority gave written assurance to the association to pay overdue emoluments by today (May 15) .
With the RIMS authority unable to fulfil its assurance, non-teaching employees have decided to take mass casual leave tomorrow.
This would be followed by different forms of agitation in case the RIMS authority fails to the overdue emoluments by tomorrow, Rasantakumar said.
The non-teaching employees include nurses, technicians, LDCs, Grade-IV staff and are numbered around 2000, said the association's secretary Bijendra Koijam.
The association also urged upon the RIMS authority to facilitate conducting investigations of all kinds in RIMS where the required machines have been installed but lying non-functional.
They also demanded immediate activation of the CT which has been lying non-functional since three years back.
The non-teaching employees further appealed to all concern to resume the RIMS main gate and other construction works which have been put on halt following an alleged impasse on percentage sharing.
