THE RESULTS of the Higher Secondary Examination 2009 conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur in the month of March last have been declared this evening .
Satyaam Takhellambam has bagged the first position in Science stream, Nongthombam Gunibani has topped the Arts stream while Meisnam Sinapal has secured the first rank in Commerce stream.
Out of a total of 18,182 candidates who appeared in the examination, 12,280 have been declared passed.
The pass percentage this year being pegged at 67.54% has become the highest pass percentage during the past several years.
In all 3,823 students passed the examination in the first division of all the streams.
In second division, 7,236 and in third division 1,089 students passed, and 132 students made it with a simple pass.
Thirty students shared the first 20 positions in Science stream.
As usual, not a single student of government run educational institute could enter the special club of the first 30 .
Satyaam Takhellambam, the topper in Science stream, is a student of Human Resource Development Academy and hails from Wangkhei Angom Leikai in Imphal East district.
He obtained letter marks in six subjects and secured 469 out of the total marks of 500.He secured 97 marks in Mathematics.
Satyaam had secured second position in the High School Leaving Certificate Examination conducted the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur in 2007 .
Two students shared the second position in the same stream.
They are Sanasam Kishan of Somorendra Sana Royal Hr Sec School, Thoubal and Pukhrambam Suraj of Herbert School, Changangei.
Kishan hails from Thoubal Sabaltongba and Suraj is from Moirang.
Both obtained 447 marks.
Nongthombam Gunibani, who topped the Arts stream, is a student of Enlighten Knowledge Higher Secondary School, Sangakpham.
She hails from Kontha Ahallup and secured 419 out of the total marks
of 500 .
Just before her Class XI examination, her father Khommei passed away due to illness.
After the death of her father, her mother had also left her.
Therefore, the principal of EK Hr Sec School, P Sharatchandra, who was a classmate of late Khommei, took care of Gunibani in relation to her studies.
Principal Sharatchandra allowed her to stay in the school boarding free of cost and took care of all expenses of her studies.
In Arts stream, 15 students bagged the first 20 positions.
Luckily for the goverment run schools, five students from these schools were included among the exclusive club of position holders.
Khundrakpam Nilita of Brahmapur Nahabam, a student of TG Higher Secondary School and Dipali Chanu Sanasam from Babupara, also a student of the same school bagged the second and third positions respectively.
Meisnam Sinapal, residing at Sagolband Wahengbam Leikai, a student of Shree Digambar Jain Mahavir Hr Sec School, obtained the first position in Commerce stream.
She secured a total of 377 marks with letters in two subjects.
Six students bagged the five positions in Commerce stream.
None of the students of state government run schools /colleges was among the six position holders.
The second position was bagged by Babli Sharma of Tiddim Road Lamka, a student of Rayburn College, Churachandpur.
He secured 375 marks.
