Imphal, July 12:
Expressing deep hurt over the non representation of Ukhrul and Chandel districts in the pruned Ministry of the SPF Government, the Maring Students' Union and a number of voluntary organisations of Chandel district have questioned the muted silence of the many NGOs, who are working for the protection of the territory of Manipur, over the issue.

Giving three berths to Imphal East, two to Imphal West and two to Senapati while giving the go by to Chandel, which is home to a number of communities, has exposed the discriminatory attitude of the Chief Minister, charged the student leader.
Though Chandel district contributes one of the highest revenues to the State coffer, it is one of the most backwards district in the State, said Moshil.
President of the Naga Students' Union, Chandel, HT Belarni said that the non representation of the district in the Ministry has dashed the hope and aspirations of the people.
This shows that Chandel district does not figure in the priority list of the State Govt, he observed.
Questioning the basis of the downsizing, Moyon Students' Union president, Raphaeal Chara said that the move will affect the hill valley relationship.
