UCM, AMUCO, CAU, BGVS, actress Tonthoi and others distribute relief items

Kangpokpi, May 09 2020:
United Committee Manipur (UCM) COVID-19 Special Task Force and Kuki Inpi Manipur distributed food items such as rice, potatoes, onions and packaged salts to locals of Lhumting and Jangoi villages under Kangpokpi district, today.
At the distribution programme, UCM president Sunil Karam said that the lockdown has led to the revelation of the brotherly relation that is shared between hills and valley to the world.
Sunil than assured that UCM will also consult with the State Government to address the grievances and difficulties of the two villages.
Saying that focusing on making Manipur a self-sufficient in term of food is the need of the hour, Sunil urged the farmers of the two villages to inform them (UCM) with the help of Kuki Inpi if they lack seeds or fertilizers to pursue agricultural activities.
The villagers also gifted fresh vegetables picked up from the nearby hill.
On the other, UCM had on Friday distributed rice to 1253 people of 244 households at Game Village Zone -IV .
The rice was provided by Imphal West DC while the distribution work was carried out by UCM and Langol Pioneer's Club.
Others also continued to extend help at many places.

Actress Tonthoi visits students
To motivate the students of Gem Public School who are under self-quarantine, principal of the school W Janmenjoy and National Awardee actress Tonthoi Leishangthem visited the students living in Bamol Kampu, Irilbung, Keirao and Chiru village area with study materials and relief items.
During the visit, the students were handed essential items of potato, onion, ngari, edible oil, thum and varieties of fresh vegetables along with study materials to encourage and motivate them during this period of lockdown.
Actress Tonthoi discerned the concerns of the students while also informing of COVID-19 pandemic and how to protect against the disease by observing the various precautionary measures issued by WHO and our Government.
Principal W Janmenjoy also gave words of encouragement to the students.
After visiting the students, the team interacted with media persons in Press Club and presented them with edible items.
AMUCO extends aid
All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation extended relief materials to a total of 98 widows (56 of Langol Leimakhullen and 42 of Langol Ningthou Leikai).
So far, AMUCO has extended aid to a total of 11,863 people, it said.
CAU
In an effort to support the people during the COVID-19 inflicted lockdown, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal organised an exchange of relief materials comprising vegetables and agricultural inputs.
The exchange programme was between the villagers of Tongou, Serakhong, Sanakeithel and CAU, Imphal.
Prof M Premjit, Vice-Chancellor CAU, Imphal along with his wife H Bina Devi and Th Robindro Singh, Dy Director of Research attended the exchange of relief materials.
They have handed over 300 kgs of groundnut seeds, 6 battery operated sprayers, 6 groundnut decorticator, 19 bee boxes, 18 bags of lime, 2 bags of urea, 18 bags of SSP, 2bags of MOP, 28 (100ml) Sanitizers and 40 kg of CAU R-1 (Tamphaphou) to the representatives of the three villages of Ukhrul.
Exchange items brought by the three villagers to CAU, Imphal which include bananas, potatoes, loklei puleis, cabbage, heibi mana, chillies, garlic and onions among others were distributed to the locals of Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan Leikai, it added.
Items distributed at Phubala
Ereima Lai Haraoba Committee (ELHC), Naranseina Ward No 9 with the assistance of ELSA Club, Naranseina extended relief materials to a large number of households under its area.
The relief materials which include 1 litre of edible oil, 1/2 kg chilli pepper, 1/2 kg garlic, 1 packet salt, 1 kg of onions, 1/2 kg fermented fish and 5 kg potatoes were distributed to a total of 150 households in Naranseina Ward No 9. P Hemolata Devi, Member Phubala GP; M Budhi, president ELSA; L Dolen, secretary ELSA and committee members namely L Nabachandra, N Sobha and P Kiran attended the event.
Leibi Village gifts veggies for Moreh denizens
Locals of Leibi Village which is under Tengnoupal gifted vegetables they grew to Meetei Council Moreh (MCM) on Friday.
In return, the council also donated edibles such as rice, dal, oil, packaged salts to the visiting villagers.
At the food exchange programme, president of MCM, M Thoiba stated that the vegetables they received from the denizens of Leibi Village will be distributed to each household in Moreh.
BGVS Manipur reaches aids to Chandel
The BGVS team of Manipur reached its relief activities to Abunikhun and Purum Khullen villages of Chandel district today.
The team distributed 5 kg of rice and 1kg of dal to 20 households of the area.
On the occasion, vice president of BGVS Manipur Panii Peter said that they came there to share the contribution to show their concern and solidarity during this uncertain time and urged to prevent and fight against the COVID-19 together.
BGVS has carried out other such activities in the past at different places of Senapati and Kangpokpi areas.
