Imphal, November 07:
A website for Manipur Police was launched today by Director General of Police Y Joykumar.
During a function held at Police Headquarters at Imphal to mark the launching of the website www.manipurpolice.org DGP Joykumar said that people can access the website for information but some sensitive information will remain shielded.
The function was attended by many top ranking police officials.
People may access the website for information like the history of Manipur Police, its organisational structure, police stations of each district and their locations, bio-data of top ranking police officials, a photo gallery showcasing the achievements of Manipur Police including photographs of international and national players and details of missing persons, said the DGP.
In addition, information on tender notices, recruitment, important events of a year and daily activities may be accessed from the website.
However, information related to police operations and others related to security will remain shielded, Joykumar mentioned.
Stating that it has been a long standing wish of Manipur Police to launch a website of its own, DGP Joykumar gave the credit for realising it to Police Wireless Director M Rajchandra and his staff.
To a query on the numerous cases of killings and crimes which took place during last month, the police officer noted that most of the cases were factional fights within underground groups except for some cases of encounter between underground groups and security forces.
On police modernisation, DGP Joykumar informed that plans are afoot to set up police stations at Sagolmang, Andro, Pallel, Noney and Kwakeithel besides police outposts at RIMS and Central Agricultural University (CAU), Iroisemba.
