To bring up a child as a healthy and successful person is the biggest contribution of a parents to the society.
So, both the fathers and the mothers should play an equal role in bringing up their children successfully, APO of Social Welfare Department K Saroja Devi has stated.
Speaking at the Children's Day function held at the community hall of Oinam under Bishnupur district today, she said instances of crime taking place against children is not the healthy of a civilised society.
Stating that the best place for children to grow and nurture their talent is while staying with their parents, Saroja noted that crime against children occur mainly while their parents are away or fail to give proper attention.
It is the responsibility of every parent to bring up their children into a healthy and successful person and it is the greatest contribution to the society.
So proper attention should be paid to the needs of the children from early days, Saroja said, adding that environment in which the children are living today, it is worrisome.
Organised under the aegis of Women's Income Generation Centre (WIGC), the function presided over by Chairperson of Oinam Gram Panchayat Ch Ibohal was also attended by Extension Officer of Social Welfare Dept A Umarani and chief functionary of WIGC O Indira as guests of honour.
The children's day function was organised for the inmates of the children homes being run by WIGC.
Apart from entertainment programme, dresses and eatables were also presented among the children during the function.
