Imphal, October 03 2017:
Considering Ningol Chakkouba festival and the existing shortage of LPG refills, IOC has taken up necessary steps to allocate greater number of refills to LPG distributors based in the valley .
Subsequent upon arrival of 83 loaded LPG bulk TTs at Sekmai bottling plant on Sunday, there was six days' stock of LPG in this morning's stock opening balance .
Taking into account the State's daily LPG requirement, IOC has taken up a new step of allocating more refills to LPG distributors based in the valley area in view of the Ningol Chakkouba festival .
Notably, the State's CAF&PD Department recently wrote a letter to the IOC asking the latter to ensure that there is no shortage of LPG refills in the run up to the Ningol Chakkouba festival.
There was a plan to unload all the 83 bulk LPG TTs which arrived at Sekmai bottling plant on Sunday itself and start bottling from Monday but no bottling was done yesterday as it was holiday on account of Gandhi Jayanti, informed a source .
Nonetheless, LPG bottling was done in full swing today and greater number of refills were allocated to distributors based in the valley .
Even though the whole North East region including Manipur faced shortage of LPG due to disruption of supply on account of floods, the situation has improved considerably now.
Coupled with the special measures taken up by the IOC for the State of Manipur, improved weather condition has ensured that the LPG scarcity would be addressed very soon .
The authorities concerned are also hopeful that there would not be scarcity of LPG refills during Ningol Chakkouba festival.
Loaded bulk LPG TTs would arrive at the Sekmai bottling plant every day when there is movement of convoys of CRPF escorts along Imphal-Dimapur highway, informed the source.
Meanwhile, around 30 loaded bulk LPG TTs will arrive at Imphal from Silchar along Imphal-Jiribam highway this week .
These TTs which operate in Assam are arranged by the IOC to improve the stock position of Sekmai bottling plant as a one time measure, added the source.
