Agitation put on hold

Taking into consideration the 5th General Panchayat Election, the Home Guard Volunteers have decided to put on hold their planned agitation regarding their demand for increase of salaries and allowance .
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, general secretary of Manipur Home Guard Employees Welfare Association, Kh Inaobi said that the association had earlier announced to take up several agitation from this week, if the State Government and the authority concerned fail to take up tangible actions by September 30 .
Expressing disappointment at the inaction of the State Government, she said that despite the anger against the authority, the association has decided to put on hold its planned agitation in light of the coming Panchayat elections .
The association will not retract its stance and will take up its demand after the election is over, she added .
Inaobi also pointed out that representatives of the association will meet the Prime Minister and the Home Minister to draw their attention to the plight of the Home Guard personnel in the State .
She claimed that around 2100 Home Guards of the State have not been getting any salaries from the month of June to September .
Inaobi also said that some of the Home Guards personnel met the Chief Minister regarding the issue and the CM then directed the DGP to disburse the four months pending salary at the earliest .
She also warned the Battalion Commanders concerned against working with vested interests.
