Training programme begins

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Thoubal organised a three day training programme on value addition of locally available resources, at its office in Wangbal, Thoubal district today .
The training programme which was organised under the sponsorship of Manipur Small Farmers’ Agri-business Consortium (SFAC) was attended by Agricultural Director Ph Rajendra as chief guest, Food Technologist of Tura Polytechnic P Surbala as guest of honour and Agricultural Joint Director Mohendra Khaidem as president .
Speaking at the event, Ph Rajendra stated that the training programme was organised as a part of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to double the farmers income .
He urged all the farmers to follow the advice given by experts and added that each and every farmer should hold a soil health card and get the soil of their respective farms tested .
Speaking as resource persons, SMS (Agronomy) N Tomba spoke on ‘Cultivation of pulses and oilseeds for value addition’ while Technologist P Surbala stressed on ‘Demonstration on Pineapple value added products’ .
‘Preservation techniques of value added products of lemon and U-Morok’ was explained by KVK, Chandel ACTO, Dr Y Prabhabati and SMS (Veterinary and Animal Husbandry) Dr S Zeshmarani talked on ‘Conservation and value addition of locally available feeds for feeding livestock’ .
