Imphal, November 01:
To deal with the increasing congestion in the commercial areas of Imphal and to pave the way for the Govt to take up developmental projects, the SPF Government has set its eyes on launching a mass scale eviction drive in the city.
Disclosing this, a reliable source said that plans are afoot to evict about 300 encroachers on the Moirangkhom-Singjamei route along NH-39.The encroachers will be evicted soon, added the source.
Similarly the Government has also decided to evict 73 encroachers at Chingmeirong tomorrow from 7 am.
A source from the DC office of Imphal East said that the unmovable properties will be pulled down tomorrow.
Process is also underway to identify the encroachers who had been granted pattas for their land in cahoots with certain officials of the Department of Settlement and Land Records, said the source adding that these deals were made before the downsizing of the Ministry was effected.
The pattas of encroachers will be cancelled, added the source.
Eviction drive will be also conducted on the basis of complaints received from the public especially in areas near the State and National highways as well as near Govt institutions, added the source.
Citing examples, the source said that the eviction drives at Nagamapal and Keishampat were conducted on the basis of complaints lodged by the public.
