Thirteen hardcore cadres of the militant outfit, Zou People's Army (ZPA), including its founder leader and a women cadre today formally surrendered to the state DGP and Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South) in a function held at IGAR (S) complex, Mantripukhri.
They surrendered along with an AK rifle with ammunition, three pistols, a revolver, two wireless radio sets and some quantity of explosive.
Among others the surrendered militants include, its founder member T Liankhankhup Zou alias Khupkhang.
The woman cadre was identified as Venonika.
According to the surrendered cadres, ZPA is operating actively in Chandel and Churachandpur districts.

Apart from the DGP, Y Joykumar and IGAR (S), CA Krishnan, the surrendered ceremony was attended by the commandant of the 26 Sector Assam Rifles, Brigadier SK Vanot and Commanding Officer of 8 Assam Rifles Colonel Arvindrakumar.
Speaking at the ceremony, Manipur police chief, Y Joykumar assured that suitable jobs will be provided to the surrendered militants at the time of recruitment of personnel in police department apart from availing facilities under the existing surrender's policy of the state government.
As they returned to the mainstream, government will ensure in providing a way for their future life.
Study facilities will also be provided to those who could not avail education well, the DGP said.
He also welcomed when the militants come out to join to the mainstream and said that government always open door when the "misguided" youths wanted to return to normal life.
An outpost of the police will also be opened at Khengjoy of Sajik Tampak of Chandel district where security forces took control from the militants and given relief to the villagers from the grievances faced by them by the presence of the militants, Joykumar added.
Major General CA Krishnan, IGAR (S) who also spoke on the occasion said that the surrender of the militant outfit has created a history in the year long insurgency history of the state.
The entire group of banned outfit organisation ZPA who had been carrying out various militant activities against the security forces in Chandel and Churachandpur districts of the state, he claimed giving the credit to the 8 Assam Rifles who succeeded in pursuing the cadres and their families for the surrender and brought the cadres to the mainstream.
All possible assistants will be provided to the surrendered militants, he assured.
