Tree plantation drive launched

Imphal, June 01 2021: World Social Forum, Manipur launched a tree plantation drive in connection with World Environment Day.

The tree plantation drive was launched by Chairman Sotinkumar at Irawat Museum in Shantipur Sanjenbam as a part of monthlong World Environment Day observation by World Social Forum, Manipur, said a press release issued by the forum.

Sotinkumar added that by 2050 frequent pandemic will pose a threat to survivability of humans and a time will come when everyone will be carrying personal oxygen cylinders to breath.

Humans destroys a Football field size patch of forest every second for selfish personal gain without keeping in mind that trees provide us with Oxygen for breathing.

In view of this situations, there is plan to plant 30 lakh trees in connection with World Environment Day to protect the environment, he added.

It is noteworthy to remember ' that World Environment Day has always been observed under the supervision of Chairman Sotinkumar and various environment protection activities have also been undertaken under him, added the press release.
