AR distributes essential items, holds COVID awareness

Imphal, May 21 2021:
In view of the ongoing curfew and second wave of COVID in the country, Churachandpur Battalion Assam Rifles distributed ration and essential commodities to the widows staying in Ruth Blessed Home for Aged & Widows located at Churachandpur town on Friday.
A release by PRO IGAR informed tlat AR troops distributed rations and basic items including face masks and hand sanitisers to 38 widows.
During the event, they were also educated about the importance of COVID appropriate behaviour, social distancing, usage of face masks and hand sanitisers including "Do's and Don'ts" to restrict the community spread of the virus, added the release.
Another release informed that Churachandpur Battalion Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (East) conducted a COVID Awareness and Appropriate Behaviour Drive at Parbung sub-divisional headquarters in Pherzawl district on Friday.
The programme was held with an aim to foster healthy lifestyle and well-being amongst people residing in remote villages under Parbung sub-division especially during these trying times of COVID resurgence, it said.
The villagers were sensitized about the repercussions and devastating effects of community spread of COVID and were briefed about the importance of home quarantine, isolation, physical activities, good nourishment and proper hygiene for overall health and well-being.
Face masks and hand sanitisers were also distributed during the event, added the release.
