Wangoi weavers provided yarn at cheaper rates

Manipur Handloom and Handicraft Corporation (MHHC) chairman S Achouba has provided yarn at cheaper rates to weavers residing in different parts of Wangoi assembly constituency.
Weavers of Oinam Sawombung Muslim, Wangoi Muslim, Paobitek Muslim, Laiphrakpam, Wangoi Wahengbam Leikai, Wangoi Longjam Leikai and Irom Meijrao who had to stop work due to unavailability of yarn amidst COVID-19 induced curfew benefited from the initiative taken up by MHHC chairman.
Achouba told media persons about yarn distribution programme that many workers faced problem as they are unable to go out due to curfew imposed for containing COVID-19 pandemic but MHHC has been making all possible efforts to provide yarn to weavers so that they could resume work.
As part of corporation's initiative of providing yarn at cheaper rates, weavers of Wangoi area were provided yarn at the rate of Rs 360 per kilogram and each weaver was provided six kilograms.
Prolonged stoppage of work by weavers not only affects financial condition of their families but also creates more problems and this was the main reason for MHHC to take up the initiative of providing yarn at cheaper rates to them, Achouba added.
