TMC employees, workers cease work in protest

Thoubal, August 29 2022:
In support of the cease work strike call given by All Manipur Municipality Employees and Workers' Union over non-clearance of pending wages for 6 months, employees and workers of Thoubal Municipal Council (TMC) suspended service and staged sit-in protest at the Council office complex on Monday.
The Union had been staging protests since August 27 demanding clearance of the pending wages, disbursal of pay for employees and workers of Urban Local Bodies from non-plan and hiking the pay scale as per the recommendation of 7th CPC.
Speaking on the sidelines, Union president Sougrakpam Roben informed that a meeting of All Manipur Municipality Employees and Workers' Union was convened on August 7, wherein the inconveniences and difficulties faced by the employees and workers were thoroughly discussed.
The resolutions adopted at the meeting were forwarded to the MAHUD minister with a request for the same to be put into action.
The Union also cautioned of launching an indefinite cease work from August 27, in case the demands were not fulfilled by August 26.However, no positive response was given till date, and as such, the cease work strike was launched.
